Thursday, October 28, It's just gotten to b such a hassle to get there, park, slog all the way to locker room, etc I switched to 24 hr fitness this year and like it a lot. They have a pool that I can actually get lap time in without 2 other peopple in the lane. The Pro Club does.
If u want the basics, 24 hr works. There is a weight loss program called Omeda that is free through our insurance. It's a cool perk to keep me active with new equipment each year.
I just switched from pro club to a climbing gym, and I may go back and forth a few more times, depending on what I want to do that year. The Commons ensures employees have almost everything one could need on-campus, including mobile carriers, a credit union, a music shop, hair salon and an auto-body shop, ensuring picking up that last-minute capo or dropping a car before work is easy as pie. Speaking of pie, the campus boasts an ungodly amount of places to grab grub.
The Commons has coffee shops, gastropubs, MOD made on demand pizza, vegan and soup bars, and even a Pike Place operation. The campus features numerous spots for recreation, movement and exercise.
Within the campus sits a full soccer field as well as bocce ball, basketball, softball and beach volleyball courts. The campus also offers marked walking and running trails ranging from two to five miles. The central soccer field draws two corporate teams, one for men and one coed.
Before you say, "duh," keep in mind the Microsoft headquarters is obviously not your average corporate office. Apple fans will attack you and harass you. Some will treat you like some kind of computer necromancer. Most of the time its just selling computers and Microsoft products. Later when I was a technician I was just fixing computers. Pros free food, drinks in a fridge, awesome break room and very understandable. On the cutting edge of technology.
Cons store management was in the beginning good then it turned despotic. Customers are rude, apple fans will harass you and spit on you. I was their for 20 years. Over time the culture completely changed and is now a typical cut through place. If you are hyper-aggressive and have no outside interests. Also if you are under 50 YO you will be ok. Once any of those change start looking for a job. Great work life balance, but the teams can be VERY hit or miss. Managers can sometimes be toxic and unclear with regards to leadership and how to grow.
When I worked for the Microsoft Stores, it was really fun. Unfortunately, they closed the stores and converted our jobs into boring telesales or support jobs. I try my best to not blame corporate because they did allow us to keep our jobs during the pandemic, but they turned the jobs into corporate-esqe jobs without the equivalent pay and additional benefits.

They also kept all of the negative requirements of working retail, such as time sheets and low pay. It's a real shame because many of the associates were passionate employees that cared about the brand, but were forced into roles that led to them burning out.
I believe many would have thrived if they had more of a choice of the role that they wanted to work in. It really is a shame, but I will never forget how fun the job was or the friends that I made working for Microsoft. Cons Poor Management, Low Pay. Claimed Profile.
