I just tested using the smbfs package from a machine running Linux Ubuntu So the issue appears to be related to Android and not Linux. Having just http and ftp access is not good enough if you want to modify files without downloading to the local machine or if you want to use a media players that do no support DLNA.
Most good media players work fine with shared network folders. Some player let the server do the sorting and others player do their own sorting. Indexing becomes and issue if the server and the client are indexing at the same time. I use DLNA occasionally. To play videos I mostly use players that only require a local or remote folders. I can understand using indexing for large music libraries because tagging for those types of files is very advanced and allows one to manage music and create playlists on the flight.
Video tagging is still in its infancy. I rarely, if ever, have created a video playlist. Also, if you watch foreign movies with subtitles that come in a separated. Message 5 of Someone from support told me that this is a "known bug" and that the engineers are working on a fix. I guess is just now a matter of waiting for the fix. Message 6 of Thanks for all the replies. After a little more research, I'm basically in the same state as everyone else. Message 7 of My Win7 PC and my Mac can see the share no problem and both require no authentication.
I enabled telnet on the WNDR and checked out the smb. Message 8 of I just installed firmware 1. So, I guess it's safe to say a that a future "Official" firmware release will include this fix. If the check box next to a feature is selected, it means that the feature is turned on. A filled check box means only part of the feature is turned on. Click the plus icon to see all features under that category. Method 2 : Follow these steps to enable NetBios and check if that works for you.
Was this reply helpful? Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for your feedback. I have modified my Windows Credential Manager, but still no luck.
Open Control Panel. Wait for the configuration to complete and then restart the computer. Have: dgnd v1 with. Message 1 of 8. Me too. Re: Readyshare and Android. Very nice of you to post this. A few questions: 1. Is cifs manager part of ES File Explorer? What version of Android are you using? I'm not familiar with androok. Is it a custom mod? Am I to understand that unlocking the tablet is the only thing different that you did that caused it to connect through cifs?
I'll be looking forward to any further progress you have when you post it. Message 2 of 8. Hi JOe, 1. No, cifs manager's a separate program, you'll find it in the google store. Basically you might think of it as a program for mapping network drives locally on android. ES explorer is an android file browser that can also browse network shares. That was the strange thing, when trying to browse the network share in ES, I had the same authentication issues you might have read on the forums about ready share, but I was still able to map the drive through cifs and use it without those problems.
Yup, adrowook is a custom mod of the stock jellybean android operating system which has cifs support built in. You'll find it on the xda forums, it's pretty popular.
