I asked to 4 person who owned D about shutter actuations and they said the cameras did about Its a great result, i think I've used this camera for many photo shoots for over 2 years and still have it as my backup camera.
My main one is the D4. If you don't care about video, this is the camera for you! Much better than the D and probably very similar to the D though the D has way too large image files for most shooters. The images from the D with the right Nikkor lenses will keep you very happy for many years!
I only switched to the D4 for it's low light ability and faster shooting speed. I have been looking for a replacement camera for my D40 and in my research discovered the D I can now get a used one in perfect condition with less than shots taken plus grip and lens waiting to hear which lens for Euros. I am looking for a camera to take stock photos with. The D is an excellent camera if you don't need video or long telephoto lenses.
It's particularly ideal if you want to use wide aperture primes and play with shallow depth of field. When it comes to image quality, it's a 5 year old camera, and many of the smaller sensors approach the once unique qualities of the D I use a Panasonic GH3 in addition to the D myself. There are no obvious choices, and it mostly boils down to the user experience. Are you ok with a camera that is twice as heavy? The rational choices nowadays are probably a mirrorless camera, but the D is a classic.
They are all good :. I have just brought a D, please can someone help with the mind field of lenses!! Thanks in advance. Very cheap and great lens, also has great bokeh and working wide apertures If your lenses are all DX then sorry, you'll have to swap 'em but all your Nikon flashes I'm talking old SB25 24, 26 20 28 will fire in the hotshoe or via cheap SC cord on manual settings without frying the camera circuits.
I just discovered that the D onbord flash in 'double-dash' commander only mode will fire my old SB in manual slave mode with no added triggers. Capture One Pro 8 is an excellent program, but it requires some time to get used to the user interface. Although I have and use this program regularly, my first choice now is Lightroom 6. Above site gives all the info and a well working conversion tool Personally I like Silkypix a lot, but there are other option as well of course: Capture One Pro or Lightroom.
Hooker Falls, North Carolina. I am really glad you asked that. I have a trial version of C1 and the images are much more alike. I am trying to decide what to do! Silkypix comes in my opinion the closest. It's also no wonder because they're developing Capture NX-D. LR would be my last advice. However the user base is very large, so if you have any kind of questions you can find it. And besides that they update the software regularly.
Again, capture NX2 is still working wonderfully well with the D files, you just have to convert them first. Adobe Bridge is really really fast too I did the trial for Capture One and found that having to import and process large RAW files was very time consuming. It is also what I dislike about Lightroom. You can use the converter that comes with either Lightroom or Photoshop CS6.
Capture NX-D is a free download from Nikonusa. It is not a fully mature product but a major update is supposed to come out in the September timeframe. I ended up buying DxO Optics Pro 10 as it is fast and it has a very large database for lens corrections that covers almost all of the Nikon lenses that I use. I use several different raw conversion programs because, IMO, there isn't any single "best" converter. It greatly depends upon the image. You don't have to learn a difficult editing program because editing comes after the RAW conversion.
So, you could use Paint Shop Pro, Lightroom, Adobe PS Elements, or any other photo editor on any file that you've converted with your preferred raw conversion program. Since you state that you mostly do landscapes, you have a low volume editing scenario that lends itself to customization of your raw and editing choices. For printing very large, you may want to investigate Qimage Ultimate as your specialist printing application.
I'd suggest installing NX-D. It's free and doesn't do a terrible job on conversions. Then I'd suggest doing some serious trials of the other raw conversion programs. They all have trial periods and I'd expect even the ones that you've trialed before will let you do another trial, if you haven't done it in the last year. I trialed both Photo Ninja and DXO 10 for only a few days before I purchased the programs, but you may want to take a little longer and compare them against each other.
When is it "Okay" to be mean, petty or unethical? NX2 is dead. It was slow, clunky, and frequently crashed but many of us persevered due to the quality of the conversions. I believe you are better off doing exposure adjustment, white balance, basic curve that you desire for the image, and maybe some initial noise reduction with the raw image before you start editing a tif file in another program. Once you learn how to use it for the basics, it does a very good job.
Sure, I agree with that. Otherwise, there'd be no point in caring about which raw converter to use. I tend to agree, although I've not used NX-D very much.
But, as I said before, I have several different converters because I don't believe that any given converter can always produce the best results on all types of images. Having said that, I also think that it is a personal preference thing. Different people will have different preferences and if you think NX-D is the best for you, I certainly wouldn't argue against that.
AfterShotPro from Corel is a very capable raw converter and a has a fast and versatile work flow. We dig into the detail The Nikon Z mm F2. With a versatile focal length range and a fast aperture for low light photography and blurry backgrounds, this lens promises sharp imagery and smooth bokeh with minimal aberrations. How does it actually perform? Well, of course, Lighroom comes in handy when you need to deal with large file sizes.
Nothing better for batch processing RAW has yet been invented : I already began to notice that I behave like a gamer - when working in LR, I keep my left hand near the 'asd' keys for quick access to some functions. There is nothing better than turning on LR in the evening, pressing the letter 'F' twice switch to full screen mode and starting to fancy a photo. LR load when processing photos in the Develop tab.

Hello Arkady! Once recently I asked you how to find out the mileage of Nikon on the camera; learned and became its owner. Nikon D with only frames mileage! What am I doing wrong? PS I sent the same question to the support service, while there is no answer. Best regards, Sergey. Two or three times a year, Nikon removes glitches, with each update it works better, minus the processing speed is lost.
Requires a more powerful multi-core computer. Maybe you should demolish everything and reinstall it when there is a connection with Nikon and recommends disabling the antivirus. How can you use this? On the four cores, intel is stupid, probably in half a second.
Poor tools. The distance between the sliders is huge - you have to scroll - moronism. When crawling moves, the image jumps and rebuilds, which somewhat interferes with perception. It is impossible, by moving the slider, to see a smooth change in the result, only tryk What do I need to do?
Preferably 8 or NX-D is faster than NX2. What kind of iron do you need? At least the old Core i7 k or k. Well, yes, schazz. For the sake of this slag editor, you also need a top system? Acdsee on i5 sandy and HDD for some reason works and does not stupid like this Yes, you forgot to mention the licensed maximum Windows It's funny. You have a PC almost 10 years ago and you are surprised that everything is slow.
How old are your smartphones? You try to pick up a phone years ago and climb through it on the Internet. The Core i7 k and k are cheap at flea markets. Now the 9th generation of Intel processors is already in the yard in , and not ! Yes, pc is ancient. I looked at the graphs, the percent is not loaded so much, but does not use more than 4 memory. Do you think the performance of modern pc processors is a big step forward? Smart is a separate topic Just Nikon need not be greedy and make a well-functioning software for their customers.
Well, I'm sitting on the phone 6 years ago, and? Gig of RAM, two cores. For normal sites - quite fast. And if the software manufacturer does not think about optimization, then whether you have at least 32 cores, gigabytes of RAM, and a RAID array from an SSD, it will still slow down.
Software for a long time in the Western world does not seek to optimize for iron years ago. On the contrary, they push that everyone dumps everything in a landfill in years.
I noticed the following situation that when editing photos in Camera Raw or directly in Photoshop itself, the colors are less saturated. That is, the picture that I see when editing, and the one that is obtained at the output, are different.
It really bothers this. Please advise how to fix this? Probably, different color spaces: the file has its own, the editor has one when editing, and another when converting. First of all, I checked it, everything is the same everywhere - sRGB both in the camera and in the editor, and when converting, we also specify it.
Everywhere I reviewed everything, I broke my whole head. Photoshop can work with the color profile of the monitor, if it is connected. Check the settings. The photo viewer can also be used to decorate.
Well, sRGB is also different. Nikon's programs have always been buggy. But, recently a new version of Capture NX-D 1. It works really well.
